Enjoy the beautiful nature, rich bird life and history on this whole-day, guided tour to the islands of Sandoy and the village of Kirkjubøur. You will be able to visit the old sites which date back to the viking era and even some sea-mines from second world war. When returning from the island of Sandoy, we will visit the historic village of Kirkjubøur, were the 17th generation of the family Pæturson lives in a house, that dates back to the viking era.

What To Expect

The drive from the capital to the ferry, which leaves a 09.45am, is approximately 20 mins long and the ferry ride itself is 30 min. On the islands of Sandoy we will visit five different villages and make several photo stops on the road. After 8 hours on the island of Sandoy we will take the ferry back to the island of Streymoy at 16.35pm and visit the historic village of Kirkjubøur, were we can go into the oldest church and only cathedral in the Faroe Islands, and visit the oldest habitat wood house in Europe, were the 17th generation of the family Pæturson lives. When we’re finished in the village of Kirkjubøur, we’ll head back to Tórshavn and you will be dropped of right at your hotel.


Pick ups – 8.30am to 9am.

  • 9am – Depart from Tórshavn
  • 9.20am – Drive along a scenic mountain road, where you will see the islands of Sandoy, Hestoy and Koltur.
  • 9.45am – Depart on the ferry to the island of Sandoy.
  • 10.15am – Arrive at the island of Sandoy, in the village of Skopun
  • 10.30am – See the old village church
  • 11.10am – See some of the oldest historical remains in the Faroe islands and the scares left behind by world war two
  • 11.45am – Arrive in the beautiful village of Dalur to take some photographs
  • 13pm – Arrive in the village of Skarvanes, to eat our packed lunch and enjoy the breathtaking views of the islands of Skúvoy and Stora Dimun
  • 13.45pm – Depart for the village of Søltuvik, were your guide will tell you all about the history of the village
  • 14.40pm – Depart from Søltuvik, with several photo stops along the way
  • 16.35pm – Depart on the ferry, back to the mainland
  • 17pm – Drive to the village of Kirkjubø, were the oldest residential house is situated. And the oldest stone church in the Faroe islands.
  • 18.15pm – Arrive back in the capital Tórshavn.
