When returning from Sandoy, we will visit the most historic-rich village in the Faroe Islands, Kirkjubøur, were the 17’th generation of the family Pæturson lives in a house, which dates back to the viking era.
What To Expect
The tour includes entry fees, ferry ticket, packed lunch and drinks. The drive from the capital to the ferry is approx. 20 min long and the sail itself is 30 min. On Sandoy we will visit 5 different villages and make several photo stops on the road. After 8 hours on Sandoy we will take the ferry back to the island Streymoy and visit the historic rich village Kirkjubøur, were we can go into the oldest church, only cathedral, and enter the oldest habitat woodhouse in Europe, were the 17’th generation of the family Pæturson lives. When were finished in Kirkjubøur, well head back to Tórshavn and you will ve dropped of right at your hotel.
Pick ups – 8.30am to 9am.
9am – Depart from Tórshavn
9.20am – Drive along a scenic mountain road, where you will see the islands of Sandoy, Hestoy and Koltur.
9.45am – Depart on the ferry to the island of Sandoy.
10.15am – Arrive at the island of Sandoy, in the village of Skopun
10.30am – See the old village church
11.10am – See some of the oldest historical remains in the Faroe islands and the scares left behind by world war two
11.45am – Arrive in the beautiful village of Dalur to take some photographs
13pm – Arrive in the village of Skarvanes, to eat our packed lunch and enjoy the breathtaking views of the islands of Skuoy and Stora Dimun
13.45pm – Depart for the village of Søltuvik, were your guide will tell you all about the history of the village
14.40pm – Depart from Søltuvik, with several photo stops along the way
16.35pm – Depart on the ferry, back to the mainland
17pm – Drive to the village of Kirkjubø, were the oldest residential house is situated. And the oldest stone church in the Faroe islands.
18.15pm – Arrive back in the capital Tórshavn.
