Overview
Enjoy most of the wonders of the Faroe islands on this 6 days package tours around the islands, while the experienced tour guide explains all the history about the surroundings. You will visit places like Mykines, Múlafossur, Saksun, Gjógv, Kalsoy, Sandoy and many others magical places. Besides from walking around in the villages and the hike to the lighthouse in Mykines, these tours are doable by everyone, and you don’t have to walk many steps on Kalsoy or Mykines to find yourself in the middle of thousands of puffins.

If you don’t want to think about ferry tickets, routes, road signs, trails etc. and just want to enjoy and explore, this tour is perfect for you, because everything is prepared, and you will be picked up at your hotel or designated area in Tórshavn every morning, and you will also be provided with packed lunch and drinks on all our tours.

Day 1 (9-15)

Golden Circle

  • Depart from Tórshavn
  • Photo opportunities of Nordadalsskard and Sornfelli
  • Arrive in Kollafjørð for coffee
  • Depart for Saksun
  • Arriving at Saksun, were you will have half an hour to explore and take amazing photos.
  • Depart for Tjørnuvík
  • Photo stop at the biggest waterfall in the Faroe islands – Fossá
  • Arriving in the village of Tjornuvik, with a half an hour photo stop
  • Depart from the village of Tjørnuvik, and head to the village of Funningur
  • We arrive at the village of Funningur, were you will visit the old wooden church
  • ( Packed Lunch & Beverages is served )
  • Arrive at the village of Gjógv for an outdoors packed lunch and beverages
  • Take a short walk to “Mary’s bench”
  • You will have some time to yourself to explore the village
  • Depart from the village of Gjogv and make our way back to Tórshavn with a few photo stops, Such as “Risin and kellingin” – The Giant and the hag
  • Arrive in Tórshavn

Day 2 (9-19)

Mykines

  • Leave Tórshavn by mountain road
  • Arrive in Sørvágur, were the ferry waits us
  • 10.20am – Depart on the ferry to Mykines
  • 11.00am – Arrive in Mykines and walk up to the village, and into a house, which is our base for the day
  • A homemade packed lunch is given to you, which you will bring with you for the hike
  • Depart from the village of Mykines, and start a 200m upp hill hike
  • Arrive at the hilltop and begin to see puffins
  • Arrive at an are called “À Rógvu”, which is the highest point of the day (300M)
  • Walk through puffin colony, also called “Ì Lamba”
  • Walk over a bridge between Mykines Island and Mykines Islet (20m above sea level)
  • Walk the 1,5 km distance from the bridge over to the lighthouse, which is the westernmost point
  • Eat the packed lunch by the lighthouse, while enjoying the view.
  • Walk back to the village where our local will greet us with warm food, and see one of the houses that is build in an old traditional faroes way. ( Heimablíðni or Home Visit )
  • 16.00pm – Free time to walk around in the village
  • 17.00pm – The ferry departs for Sørvágur
  • 17.50 – Arrive in Sørvágur and begin the journey back to Tórshavn.
  • Arrive in Tórshavn.

Day 3 (9-19)

Highlights Of The North

  • Depart from Tórshavn and drive past the villages Kollafjørður, Hósvík, Hvalvík, Oyri to Eysturoy island.
  • Arrive at Skálabotn and stop for coffee
  • Depart from Skálabotnur and drive past the villages of –  Skipanes, Syðragøta and Norðagøta.
  • Drive by mountain road to the village of Leirvík, where you will be able to see some historical residential, Viking remains.
  • Drive to the sub sea tunnel to the Northern Islands
  • Drive to the village of Viðareiði, through the newest tunnel in the Faroe islands.
  • Depart the village of Viðareiði, and stop by the villages of Árnafjørð and Norðdepil for more photo opportunity.
  • Visit the village of Kunoy, where there will be a photo opportunity.
  • Arrive in the village of Klaksvík, were you will able to walk around while waiting for the ferry.
  • ( Packed Lunch & Beverages is served )
  • 14.50pm – Depart on the ferry (Klaksvík ->Syðradalur)
  • 15.10pm – Arrive on the island of Kalsoy
  • Arrive in the village of Trøllanes where you will get the opportunity to walk around in the village
  • Sightseeing in the village Mikladalur ( Seal woman )
  • Depart from the village of Mikladalur
  • Photo stop in Húsar
  • Sightseeing in village of Syðradalur
  • 18.50pm – Depart on the ferry (Syðradalur ->Klaksvík)
  • Arrive in the village of Klaksvík and begin the journey back to Tórshavn
  • Arrive in Tórshavn.

Day 4 (9-19.40)

Suðuroy

Pick up times –  8.15am to 9.00am

The Journey takes us to the Southernmost island in the Faroe Islands Suðuroy, which has been out of the reach for many tourists until now.

The reason for this is first and foremost the two hour sail trip each way, and also the difficult bus connections on the island.

Suðuroy i known for it’s  spectacularly raw landscape, strong culture and nice people with quite a different dialéct than most other Faroese.

MM Tours is currently, together with locals, researching and planning these tours for 2020 and we expect a full Itinerary to be ready by the end of October

Day 5 (9-15.30)

Vestmanna Bird Cliffs

  • Depart from Tórshavn
  • Drive to Norðradalsskarð and Sornfelli.
  • Drive to Kolljafarðadal, and the villages of Leynar, Stykki and Kvívík.
  • Arrive at the village of Vestmanna.
  • 10.15am – Board the ferry and begin the journey to the bird cliffs 
  • 12.15pm – Arrive back on land
  • ( Packed Lunch & Beverages is served )
  • See the windmills that are located above the village of Vestmanna.
  • Visit a shop, where the local knitting ladies sell handmade garments.
  • A short walk back to the bus
  • Depart from Vestmanna
  • A short stop in the village of Kvívík, were we will visit some historical residential remains.
  • Arrive back in the capital of Tórshavn

Day 6 (9-14)

Photography Tour

  • Depart from Tórshavn
  • Photo opportunities of Norðadalsskarð and Sornsfelli
  • Arrive in Kollafjørð for coffee
  • Begin the journey to Skæling for a photo stop
  • Arrive at Skælingur for a 15 min stop
  • Drive to and through the subsea tunnel
  • Arrive in the village of Sandavágur, were we will make a stop to see some historical remains.
  • Arrive at Leitisvatn and see the statue of “Nykur”, a mythical faroes figure
  • Arrive at the village of Bøur, were you will get the opportunity to walk around the village and see the amazing views of Tindholmur and Drangarnir.
  • back on the bus and drive to the village of Gásadalur.
  • ( Packed Lunch & Beverages is served )
  • A short walk to Múlafossur, the most well known waterfall in the Faroe islands.
  • The buss departs for the capital of Tórshavn
  • Arrive in the capital

Mykines: Hard –

All tours except Mykines are easy, and doable by most people. Hiking on Mykines is not mandatory, and MM Tours has a base for those, who rather want to stay in the village, instead of doing the hiking.
